After an illustrious career spanning almost five decades and numerous performances around the globe, Elton John has reached the culmination of his Farewell Yellow Brick Tour, concluding with his final show in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday night.
Sir Elton bid farewell to his devoted fans with a heartfelt message, expressing his immense gratitude.
“I have been blessed with an extraordinary career, surpassing all expectations,” he conveyed to the enthusiastic crowd.
“Fifty years of sheer musical bliss. How fortunate am I? But I wouldn’t be standing here addressing you today if it weren’t for you. You purchased the singles, the CDs, the albums, the cassettes. Every step of the way, my fans have stood by me. They have remained loyal, supportive, patient, and have consistently shown up for every single performance,” he continued.
“And you know how much I relish performing live; it has been the very essence of my existence to play for you all, and you have been absolutely magnificent—thank you!” he expressed with genuine appreciation.
While bidding his final farewell, John clarified that although he is retiring from touring, it does not mean fans will never have the opportunity to witness him perform live again.
“I will no longer be embarking on tours, but who knows? There might be something special in the future—a one-of-a-kind event… but that’s still a long way off,” he revealed.
Following expressions of gratitude towards his family, band, and crew, Elton John proceeded to deliver an emotionally charged rendition of his iconic hit, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.”
During the closing show, the sensational “Rocket Man” vocalist received a special tribute from Chris Martin, who shared a heartfelt message from Coldplay’s stage at another venue in Stockholm, where they were performing that same evening.
